  • John Lentini, nationally recognized fire expert, certified in both fire scene investigations and fire debris analysis, with over 2,000 fire scene inspections and extensive contributions to advancing standards in forensic fire investigations.

The following topics will be discussed:

1. Water Supply Failures
   • Dozens of fire hydrants were reported to have low to no water pressure during crucial firefighting efforts.
   • The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) confirmed that hydrants in key areas “went dry” due to water tanks being emptied multiple times in 24 hours.
2. Brush Clearance Issues
   • Reports suggest that large sections of public land, including state-owned properties, had not been properly maintained.
   • Overgrown vegetation served as dangerous fuel for the fire’s rapid spread as can be seen from images taken near where the fire is suspected to have begun
3. Electric System Issues
   • Power lines were reportedly not shut off despite hazardous wind conditions contributing to the risk of ignition.
   • The decision not to de-energize lines raises questions about the emergency protocols designed to prevent fire ignition.
